Ramsbottom is a quirky place in the West Pennines, a dozen miles north of Manchester. They have a steam train, the East Lancs Railway, running through; the annual Old English Game Cock Show; a festival of chocolate and another of jigsaws; not to mention the World Black Pudding Throwing Championships, a rerun of the Wars of the Roses in which Lancashire black puddings are hurled at piles of Yorkshire ones. Happy Thursday Folks... Some great news on the run up to the weekend - Our brewers monthly special 'Marshmallow Unicorn' was so popular we decided to bottle it!
'Marshmallow Unicorn Milk Stout 4.4%' - A stout containing lactose. a sugar derived from milk. Being unfermentable it adds sweetness, body and calories to the finished beer.

Yesterday we had a request from a lady who wanted an anniversary present for her husband. They've been married for 22 years and Lesley found out that traditionally a gift of Copper was given to celebrate 22 years. So today we made a special delivery to Steve of 22 bottles of our 'Copper Plate' best bitter.
Congratulations Lesley & Steve on 22 years of marriage!
What a fantastic weekend we had here at Irwell Works Brewery. The town was filled with good cheer as people donned their uniforms, tea dresses, dungarees, head scarves and red lippy to celebrate 1940's weekend and remember those who fought for our country. Visitors enjoyed wartime re-enactments, vintage and military stalls and a full military parade as well as tunes from the era from 1940s singers and musicians.
We were joined over the weekend by the lovely Clare and Marj for our annual 1940's Singalong...
