Brewery Tap

Irwell Works Brewery tap is situated just above the brewery itself, on entering the building on Saturdays you can watch the brewers at work. On the bar we have a variety of our own beers across 8 hand pumps, a real cider and Becks Vier. We also have a full range of spirits, malt whiskies, continental beers and fruit beers. Red, white and rose wines as standard, in addition to those we have a selection of speciality fruit wines and mead.

For those guests who don't drink or have the car keys we have a full range of soft drinks including the wonderful Fitzpatricks cordials. For those among you who would like to try something a little different, our bar staff can highly reccommend trying these cordials with spirits, a Gin & Rhubarb and Rosehip perhaps or for those with a sweeter tooth may we suggest a Disarrono with Sour Cherry, Red Grape and Hibiscus. Our mixologists are currently working on some cocktail recipes, available soon.

The bar is open from 12 noon - 11pm Tuesday - Sunday, children are welcome to join us until 6pm, we have a great selection of board games for all the family. Dogs are also very welcome.

Bar snacks are available Friday - Sunday 12 noon - 6pm, and we also have a nice range of crisps, nuts and pork scratchings.

We have live music each Thursday night and host a Folk Night on the first and last Wednesday of the month. For updates on who's playing please check our Live Music and Events Page.

If you're looking to take some of our beer away with you, as a gift perhaps or for a party there are many ways you can do this... The majority of our beers are bottled for you to take singularly, in a 4 bottle gift pack or by the case. We also sell 5L mini kegs or 20L Boxes, all we ask is that you give us a days notice so we can prepare it for you. For more information or prices please give us a call or pop in and speak to the bar staff.

Our Beers

Mad Dogs & Englishmen 5.5%abv

Export style pale ale hopped in the style of the India Pale Ales. Little sweetness for its strength and a strong hop character make this a smooth easy drinking favourite.

Lightweights & Gentlemen 3.2%abv

Brewed to compliment Mad dogs & Englishmen. This is a low strength pale ale refreshing and light But surprisingly flavoursome, this beer has a big taste for a low strength.

Copper Plate Bitter 3.8%abv

A traditional northern bitter copper coloured with a sharp bitterness and a full and complex flavour. An excellent session bitter that retains its flavour pint after pint

Steam Plate Best Bitter 4.3%abv

A golden best bitter, a medium bitterness balanced with a slight sweetness. Amber malt provides a slight nutty flavour and New Zealand Wakatu hops give this bitter a pleasant aroma

Tin Plate Dark Mild 3.6%abv

Brewed as a traditional dark mild, low strength and a rich, creamy flavour but with a slight bitterness contrast

Iron Plate Lancashire Stout 4.4%abv

Brewed as a Lancashire Stout, from an old Irish recipe. This is a meal in itself, the richness of the stout is balanced with a good bitterness. No aroma hops are used allowing the full roasted barley aroma to dominate

Richard Mason 1888 4.0%abv

Richard Mason, Coppersmith built Irwell Works in 1888. Brewed in the modern style of English Pale Ale this mid-strength single hopped beer has a mild bitterness and pleasantly mildly hopped aftertaste

Costa Del Salford 4.1%abv

Brewed as a summer ale this beer is light in colour with bags of flavour

Marshmallow Unicorn 4.4% Milk Stout

A stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Being unfermentable it adds sweetness, body, and calories to the finished beer.

Breadcrumbs (Gluten Free) 3.6%abv

A session strength pale ale, light hoppy aroma reminiscent of an American IPA, dry and refreshing, but the judicious use of Slovakian hops add an intense hop flavour and refreshing finish.
